RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

 This year Gerard Combrink of our Youth Committee has tried to find a suitable applicant within Westpac Bank where he works, as well as elsewhere; his search was not successful to find a suitable applicant this year.  We will try again next year, but in the meantime we are looking at hosting one of the leaders of the RYLA group through Tom Gorman.  Updates will be posted.  

Youth Exchange Programme

 Interviews have been completed for two applicants, both of whom were excellent student prospects. Both girls are completing their final year at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.  We have selected one, Catalina Mukherjee, of Eerwah Vale.  The  details for the incoming student are still being processed, the likely person is from Denmark, Anne Zachau.  The Counsellor for the incoming student is Lee Borradale, and host families are Alan Marr and Bruce Sherwell.  These families will be backed up by other families within the club for any short term stays.  Also the outgoing student's family will be the first host forAnne in July, 2009.  

RYDA - Rotary Youth Driver Awareness

Applications for funding have been sent to NRMA and possible other sources will be Telstra.

Three schools are involved - Nambour SHS, Burnside SHS and St Johns College will be processed for this year.   Possible dates being considered are August and the venue will either be Corbould Park or Nambour Show Grounds - yet to be finalised.  MANY HANDS WILL BE NEEDED FOR THE PROJECT ON THE DAY.  It will be a two day event involving 180 students EACH DAY.
